US equities finished with solid gains after trading with particularly light volumes throughout the session. Despite weaker than expected tier 1 US data equities trended higher with the bid tone being attributed to short covering ahead of the FOMC tomorrow. The S&P 500 slightly underperformed and the NASDAQ 100 was unable to firmly breach the 3000 level as both indexes drifted lower in the last 15 minute of trade. Finally, the DJIA finished up 0.91% at 15318.23, the S&P 500 finished up 0.78% at 1651.79 and the NASDAQ 100 finished up 0.84% at 2996.13.
